Die-cutting & shaping

Steel-rule and laser die-cutting for custom shapes, windows, rounded corners, and intricate filigree, plus precise scoring and folding, so the silhouette of the piece is part of the design.

A shape that is not a rectangle tells a recipient someone cared enough to cut it, and the silhouette is often the first thing noticed and the last thing forgotten. We die-cut custom shapes, windows that frame a second layer, rounded and asymmetric corners, and intricate filigree or lace effects, using steel-rule dies for production runs and laser cutting for fine detail a knife cannot hold. Combined with scoring and folding, this is how a flat sheet becomes a gate-fold invitation, a shaped hang tag, or a folder with a die-cut business-card slit.

The risk with intricate cutting is fragility and registration, a delicate cut that tears, or a window that does not line up with the layer behind it. We match the cut to the stock so fine details survive handling, and we register the cut to the print so windows, edges, and folds land where the design intends. Because the cutting is in-house, we can prototype a shape, adjust it, and confirm it on your real stock before committing, instead of discovering on press that the filigree was too fine for the paper.
